People, cafes, vendors, street merchants, buskers, historic buildings, art installations and much more. The power of observation underpins the art of great street photography. We will be using various techniques to maximise the behaviour of the light. Backlighting is one of my favourites and can be used for portraiture or nature. Bokeh is Japanese for blur but is a term used for soft out of focus balls of light which can look very pleasing. Burst in this case is star burst which can be achieved when you have strong areas of light and a correct choice of aperture. Use all three to create some amazing compositions.

Do you gaze up at the night sky with wonder? What about looking up at the stars and thinking, how old that light you are seeing is? Maybe you watch as day and night morph into one, and the stars come out to play.

This meetup is going to cover off everything you need to know to start capturing amazing single shot astrophotography and a few extra bits of helpful advice. The learnt basics of capturing a single frame will form the building blocks of your astrophotography journey. Think of this meetup as your first step on that journey or for those who have already started, maybe a road sign.

Astrophotography looks amazing and packs a real punch, however, you do not need to spend a fortune to partake. Does gear make a difference, the simple answer is yes, but it is not the deciding factor when it comes to astrophotography. This meetup will look at planning your session, camera settings, required equipment. I want this meetup to help you maximise your current gear as your start capturing milky way shots.

My name is Sahar and I'm so excited to be part of the West Bromwich team. ?

Meetups with me are laidback, fun, and inclusive outings to foster our creativity and connect our voices with the world around us. ?

I would describe my photography as dreamy, nostalgic, and set specific! I value building character and a sense of time and place. I'm interested in dramaturgy and work as a production designer so I enjoy shooting images that evoke a certain era or cultural reference. I love doing art / fashion portraits and landscapes / nature. I'm very confident with double exposure and can teach you how to. ? Colour, composition, storytelling, and conceptualism are things that I enjoy focusing on. I prefer to shoot in film. I own a canon rebel and smena 8m. I use various films, but my favorite film to use is dubblefilm. ?

I was attracted by the neon pink handrails on the stairs, that provide an alternative way up to the platform from street level, and took a few images around the base and on the stairs, before photographing the stark rectangular lift doors. It was a lucky encounter with the woman and her umbrella using the stairs. A little colour grading in Lightroom to cool the shadows and a 16 x 9 crop made it look more cinematic.

It was nothing but grey skies and rain for days on end, but I decided that you don't always need epic sunsets for great photos. The dull weather also allowed me to get a 20 second exposure with an ND1000 filter giving that classic wispy water look. A wide angle lens allowed me to get nice and close and emphasize the subject, being that close also meant there was some close calls with the occasional freak wave coming up to where I had my tripod and me running back up the beach to escape them
